TWII: Reunion Special!

The Way It Is Season 2BET brings Keyshia Cole and her family back together for a reunion special like no other on Thursday, March 20 at 8:00 PM*. Hosted by veteran BET personality Ananda Lewis, KEYSHIA COLE: THE WAY IT IS — A FAMILY AFFAIR is a compelling two-hour special that revisits the Grammy Award-nominated R&B songstress, her mother Frankie, sister Neffe, and manager Manny to recap all that has happened since the second season wrapped for the critically acclaimed BET series, KEYSHIA COLE: THE WAY IT IS.

Ananda leaves no stone unturned when she probes Keyshia and her family members about past challenges and their ongoing relationships in this emotionally charged special.

Here is some of what Keyshia and her family had to say:

“I’m learning to be a mother … it’s never too late but at the end of the day, respect that, don’t ever give up on your mama … I love my babies and all I want them to do if they don’t do nothing else in life is to forgive me.”

Keyshia’s mother, Frankie, tearfully declares when asked about her on- going sobriety and being absent in her daughter’s life.

“We grow everyday … and the first step is letting it go and knowing that God is your rock and your shelter. And have faith. I promise you if I don’t know nothing else, I know that.”

Keyshia’s response on how she learned to forgive her mother for abandoning her as an infant.

Executive produced by Keyshia Cole, Manny Halley and James DuBose of DuBose Entertainment, this provocative special also answers those burning questions about the R&B diva, who has unabashedly opened her life to the entire world — Does Keyshia find love? Did Neffe decide to keep the baby? Is Frankie still living a healthy and drug-free life? Tune in and find out! KEYSHIA COLE: THE WAY IT IS — A FAMILY AFFAIR repeats on Saturday, March 22 at 1:00 PM* and Sunday, March 23 at 9:00 PM*.

*All times are ET/PT

Dear Keyshia, girl you rock, I really enjoyed the reunion, you all looked really nice, you’ll hair was layed, All you’ll emotions are real and always have been, When you’ll cried I cried, Because I relate with you’ll, I have been living the same situation, My story is that my mom was in the household physically, but did not show love to me , all I recieved was abuse by her and at the hands of her live in boyfriend, I have other siblings and they did not get treated like me , it was like I was treated like a stepchild, My sisters treated me just as bad, I have children and my mom does not acknowledge them and she does not act like a grandmother to them, But she bends over backwards for my siblings children, It really hurts, First she abuses me , and allow me to get abused by her live in boyfriend, Now she does not do anything for my chlidren, her grandchildren, It’s as if she hates me and my children, I’ am constantly treated like a black sheep, and my children, I’am grown now and it is sameo sameo with the hate and abuse by her and my siblings, all they want to do is use me, Because of my good and forgiving heart, But I can not take it anymore, I just stay away from the so they don’t hurt me or my children, All I have is my children and my husband, to support me, So that is why I admire you Keyshia , Forget all the cameras, that are on you, I see your pain is real, it is not fake, I’am also hurting and in pain, You can see it in your face, it is real, I feel like I know you, because we have so much in common, With relationships with our mothers, I been busy running away from hurt and abuse, and you have been busy running to your mom, I ‘am so happy for you and your family, Keyshia, Keep your head up, and stay strong, Keyshia, I love you girl, p.s. A broken heart that needs mending!

I saw the reunion special, and would like to say to Keyshia, what you and your family experienced in your lives is a testimony to all that God is real and is the He is the Restorer and Healer of all. Also, baby Jaylen is definitely Gods plan.

Saw your show for the very first time yesterday. It really has haunted me since then. I too am adopted but never had any desire to know my “biological parents.” I had a great adoption experience even though I am Asian and my siblings are blonde hair and blue eyed. Of course, I always knew I was adopted unlike you. That is where your parents went wrong. They should have told you from day one as my parents did. I know who my true family is thank the Lord every day my birth parents had the unselfishness to give me up so I could have a better life than what they could provide. My foundation, as yours, was very stable and strong. That is why you are such a driven and successful individual. Your parents and brothers should be given alot of credit for your success as a human being as well. Without them, your life would have been harder and your opportunities of success not as easy. I know my family really wanted me because they did not adopt me because they have no other option i.e. couldn’t have kids of their own. I was fourth after their other three biological children. Now, that is special. It did bother me that you feel a special bond with your birth mother than the one that raised you. If she felt that way about her own children, you would not have been adopted.
